Long-Term Substitute Music Teacher

Holy Apostles School is seeking a long-term Substitute Teacher to teach Music for a 13-week duration beginning early to mid-February, through mid-May 2020.  The qualified candidate is responsible for following the regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.  This candidate will be accountable for the instruction, supervision, and management of school students.  The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, exhibit empathy and support for the academic and emotional needs of his or her students and foster positive interactions with students and fellow employees.  He or she must also fulfill other responsibilities in accordance with Holy Apostles' mission statement.

  • The ability to engage students to be creative and innovative in their musical pursuits.
  • Shares with administration and staff a responsibility for excellence in education, curriculum development/improvement, school’s policies and procedures, academic achievement and student well-being.
  • Organizes, plans, and prepares assigned classes for optimum educational outcomes by following the daily lesson plans for subjects taught in alignment with curriculum guidelines established by the State of Wisconsin, Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and Holy Apostles Catholic School.
  • Creates a positive learning atmosphere for all students, including recognizing and providing for individual learning styles.
  • Evaluates students’ growth and achievement.

Reading Interventionist Aide (PT)

Holy Apostles Catholic School is seeking a Reading Interventionist Aide for the 2019-2020 school year.  This is a part-time position, with 20 hours per week.  This position supports, supplements and extends classroom teaching based on the needs of students. The Reading Interventionist Aide assists the teacher in implementing education plans to meet the different learning needs of the students. The TLC aide works in conjunction with the regular classroom teacher. This position provides an educational resource for the Reading Specialist Learning Center Resource teacher and classroom teachers and keeps records of which methods and materials are used for each child.

  • Shares with administration and staff a responsibility for excellence in education, curriculum development/improvement, school’s policies and procedures, academic achievement and student well-being.
  • Assist with coordinating testing of reading levels of all students using a standardized assessment like QRI4 or PALS.
  • Assist TLC teacher with testing academic achievement (PALS, QRI4, WRAT, Conners, etc. or other individualized reading inventories) for incoming transfer students in grades 1–8 and report results to TLC teacher and principal.
  • Provide targeted students with opportunities for individual and/or small group support outside the classroom. Additional priority time is considered when individual needs dictate more intensive intervention.
  • Creates a positive learning atmosphere for all students, including recognizing and providing for individual learning styles.

Math Interventionist

Holy Apostles Catholic School is seeking a Math Interventionist teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.  This is a one-year term position, with 32.5 hours per week.  This position supports, supplements and extends classroom teaching based on the needs of students. The Math Interventionist also provides diagnostic assessment and recommendation to teachers and parents.  The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, exhibit empathy and support for the academic and emotional needs of his or her students and foster positive interactions with students and fellow employees.  He or she must also fulfill other responsibilities in accordance with Holy Apostles' mission statement.

  • Shares with administration and staff a responsibility for excellence in education, curriculum development/improvement, school’s policies and procedures, academic achievement and student well-being.
  • Supports, supplements and extends classroom teaching and works collaboratively to implement a quality math program that is research-based and meets the needs of students.
  • Organizes, plans, and prepares assigned opportunities for optimum educational outcomes by preparing math materials that align with curriculum guidelines established by the State of Wisconsin, Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and Holy Apostles Catholic School.
  • Creates a positive learning atmosphere for all students, including recognizing and providing for individual learning styles.
  • Evaluates students’ growth and achievement.

Substitute Teacher (Short-Term)

Holy Apostles School is seeking a short-term Substitute Teacher to teach in grades 3K through 8th.  The Substitute Teacher will work in the absence of our regular teachers/aides, assisting students in their daily tasks and helping ensure the understanding of the subject matter being covered.  This position possesses the skills needed to cover daily instruction and run the classroom environment in an orderly fashion. 

  • Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.
  • Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans
  • Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students
  • Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment
  • Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways and in the cafeteria
  •  Comply with all procedures, guidelines, and policies of the school at all times
  • Maintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality
