Holy Apostles School - New Berlin, Wisconsin

Holy Apostles Lunch Program

Dear Parents,

Holy Apostles School Food Service would like to welcome you to the school year. It is our goal to provide the best nutritionally balanced meals using State and Federal regulations as our guide, at the lowest possible cost, and serviced with an "at your service" attitude. The Food Service Department invites parents to have lunch with their children when in the school area. Please stop in the school office, sign in and obtain a "Visitors Badge".

What's for Lunch?
Holy Apostles School serves meals each school day in the cafeteria (Lofy Hall) on the first full day of school and end on the last full day of school.. The menu is updated each month. Our meal serving plan this year will be offer vs. serve. This means that the student will be offered a Five Component Meal: 1. Meat or meat alternate, 2. Fruit or, 3. Vegetable or combination (total service must equal ¾ cup), Bread or bread alternate, 5. Milk. However, the student has the right to refuse any two items offered. Wellness meals are provided to students, upon proof from your family physician of special dietary needs; parental requests are not accepted.

Lunchroom Rules
All students are required to remain in the lunch room for a period of twenty minutes to eat their lunch followed by a 15 minute recess period. Primary students are allowed additional time to eat if needed. ALL FOOD BROUGHT INTO, OR PURCHASED IN THE CAFETERIA, MUST BE CONSUMED IN THE CAFETERIA.

Payment
At Holy Apostles we use Cafe Prepay to manage lunch program paymenst. Children may buy lunch at varying prices based on their grade level. Lunch ticket prices are posted on each month’s lunch menu. Parents must pay by check and drop off in the mailbox in the office. Only one check is necessary if there is more than one student in a family. Checks should be made out in the proper amount to HOLY APOSTLES SCHOOL FOOD SERVICE. A Lunch Payment Form (pdf, 50kb) is available for your convenience.

Special Circumstances
Free and reduced meals are available for children of families who qualify within the Federal guidelines based on total income. Application forms are in your school packet. TO GET FREE OR REDUCED PRICE MEALS FOR YOUR CHILDREN, YOU MUST COMPLETE AN APPLICATION also available in the office AND RETURN IT TO THE SCHOOL. WE CANNOT APPROVE AN APPLICATION THAT IS NOT COMPLETE.

Special Diet
All meals served meet standards established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. However, if a child has been determined by a doctor to have a disability and the disability would prevent the child from eating the regular school meal, this school will make any substitutions prescribed by the doctor. If a substitution is needed, there will be no extra charge for the meal. If you believe your child needs substitutions because of a disability, get in touch with WI DPI for further information.
