YOUTH DISCIPLESHIP

Faith is not one size fits all. Jesus came so that we can have our own personal relationship with Him! Youth Discipleship creates opportunities for teens to discover who Jesus is and how to develop that relationship. Growth happens through prayer, service, and small group interactions. Teens will have a chance to ask questions about their faith and learn how to live out their mission of being a disciple of Jesus Christ.

For more information about Youth Discipleship, contact Rachel Madden at rmadden@hanb.org

Registration for the 2020-2021 school year is now open until September 1, 2020.

HIGH SCHOOL

(9-12)

YOUTH DISCIPLESHIP

High School is such an exciting time for teens as they start to take ownership of their faith journey. Youth Discipleship is here to help your teen find a path to walk with Jesus by their side. Youth are guided through the practice of our faith and develop habits of discipleship. We grow in community through small group discussion and service. We also offer opportunities to join other Catholic youth from around the state and country through events like the Wisconsin Catholic Youth Rally and the National Catholic Youth Conference.

CONFIRMATION PREPERATION

Confirmation is the third and final sacrament of initiation. Receiving this sacrament is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. Through Confirmation we are bound more perfectly to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Given these graces we are now equipped to act as true witnesses of Christ by spreading and defending the faith by our words and actions. (CCC1285)

Through Confirmation Preparation youth will learn about the Sacrament through both large & small groups, retreats, and service. There are two periods of preparation for the sacrament: remote and immediate.

Remote preparation refers to the years leading up to receiving the sacrament with formation occurring within the parish, family, school, and community settings. Young people should enter the Confirmation Preparation program with a foundation in the faith.

Immediate preparation focuses on the Sacrament of Confirmation itself and takes place in the time directly preceding the celebration. This is known as Confirmation Preparation.

Youth begin Confirmation Preparation in the fall of their Sophomore year by participating in ALPHA Youth. This program helps youth discover their own voice, allows them to ask questions, and form faith communities of their own. Their journey continues in January of their Sophomore year as they begin the immediate preparation

Candidates can register for Confirmation Preparation to be celebrated in 2021 if they have met the following requirements:

  • Have been baptized

  • Have reached the age of 15 by September 1, 2020

  • Have participated in ALPHA Youth either during 9th grade or in the fall of their 10th grade year.

  • Have attended a Catholic School or Youth Ministry Small groups for the year prior to and including the year of preparation.

Registration is required by September 1, 2020. The cost is $185.
