YOUTH
DISCIPLESHIP

Faith is not one size fits all. Jesus came so that we can have our own personal relationship with Him! Youth Discipleship creates opportunities for teens to discover who Jesus is and how to develop that relationship. Growth happens through prayer, service, and small group interactions. Teens will have a chance to ask questions about their faith and learn how to live out their mission of being a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Register for Youth Discipleship here. Fill out the High School Service form below. For more information, contact Nancy Petoskey Ahern at (262) 786-2035 or nahern@hanb.org

HIGH SCHOOL (9-12)
YOUTH DISCIPLESHIP

High School is such an exciting time for teens as they start to take ownership of their faith. High School Youth Discipleship is here to help your teen find a path to walk with Jesus by their side. Youth are guided through the practice of our faith and develop habits of discipleship. We grow in community through prayer, scripture, small and large group discussions, and service. We also offer opportunities to join other Catholic youth from around the state and country through the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) https://www.hanb.org/ncyc and other events sponsored by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

“Come follow me”, these were the words of Jesus to his first followers. They said “Yes”, and everything changed. Over the next three years, they walked with him, listened to him, witnessed incredible moments, and slowly came to know who he truly was. Their hearts were transformed, and they became Apostles—bold witnesses of God’s love to the world.

Inspired by this same journey, Holy Apostles is launching a new three-year youth discipleship experience. This is more than a program—it’s an invitation. An invitation for our youth to come, to see, and to become true disciples of Jesus.

Step into the journey. Grow in faith. Be transformed.

We are truly honored to partner with you as the primary teachers of faith for your teens. By moving toward this intentional, three-year journey, our hope is to provide a strong foundation for your youth in Jesus Christ, His Gospel, and the teachings of our Catholic Faith. Whether your student begins with us in 9th grade to build those vital bonds of trust or joins our community in September of their Junior year, we are committed to helping them discover their unique mission in the Church. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming parent meeting in August to discuss this exciting new chapter and answer any questions you may have.

Below is a summary of the new program for Youth Discipleship starting in 2026-2027 and the change in the date that we will celebrate Confirmation.

                                    Implementation for 2026-2027
Please note that this new three-year plan will officially go into effect for the incoming 9th-grade class of the 2026-2027 academic year. All students who will be Sophomores in the 2026-2027 school year will continue under the existing two-year preparation plan. There are two adjustments for these Sophomores. The first is that that Catholic High School youth will join us is September not January. The second is that the Sacrament of Confirmation will now be celebrated in April 2027, rather than in October. The date of Confirmation will be Sunday, April 25, 2027, and Archbishop Grob will be presiding.

9th Grade:
Catholic Social Teachings

We are thrilled to share a new vision for our Youth Discipleship program, crafted to engage our teens more deeply in their “Faith Journey”.  To better support our students as they grow into committed disciples this coming 2026-2027 year, our 9th graders will utilize Connected: Catholic Social Teaching for this Generation from Ascension Press before starting formal Confirmation prep as a sophomore. This program is designed to explore how the Gospel addresses modern challenges. The focus is to take the youth beyond the textbook, moving faith from their heads to their hearts through active service and social justice. This will help youth see how the Church’s teachings on human dignity, community, and justice applies to their communities and world today. While the Discipleship Journey is three years for public high school youth, the Sacrament Prep remains a focused two-year block (10 &11th) for public school students, with Catholic high school students always welcome to join but expected to join for the final year in September and Confirmation being in May.

10th grade:
Foundations of Confirmation

This year marks the beginning of formal Confirmation Prep, and we will continue using the "Chosen: Your Journey Toward Confirmation" program from Ascension Press. This year is dedicated to students growing in their relationship and faith with Christ, as they explore the "why" behind our beliefs and learn how to navigate their daily lives with Christ as their foundation, while preparing their hearts for the Sacrament of Confirmation.  This year’s special emphasis will be on the importance of a daily prayer life and participation in liturgical experiences, so youth will come to experience the Real Presence of Jesus Christ. We believe that discipleship happens best within the liturgy; therefore, our candidates will be encouraged to take an active role as lectors, greeters, ushers or musicians in the four Family and Youth Discipleship Masses and the Praise and Worship Adorations.

“ Everyone can experience the joy and blessing of generosity; because everyone has something to give.”

As Catholics, we are called to be disciples of Christ. We believe service encompasses both prayer and action, emphasizing charity and social justice. It is about continuing the mission of Jesus by recognizing the dignity of every person, especially the last, the lost, the least, and the lonely. By giving ourselves the gift of time to help others, we are really helping ourselves experience remarkable life-changing moments.

  Acts of Service:

  •  Strengthen our faith by allowing us to live out our faith in the world by actively engage with our faith through our brothers and sisters in Christ.

  • Demonstrates God's love in tangible ways for us and others.

  • Deepens our understanding of God's plan for us by helping us become more aware of our role in fulfilling God's will.
