Long-Term Substitute Teacher (5th grade)

Holy Apostles School is seeking a long-term Substitute Teacher to teach 5th grade for a 13-week duration starting the 2020-21 Academic year in August to mid-November 2020.  The qualified candidate is responsible for following the regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.  This candidate will be accountable for the instruction, supervision, and management of school students.  The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, exhibit empathy and support for the academic and emotional needs of his or her students, and foster positive interactions with students and fellow employees.  He or she must also fulfill other responsibilities in accordance with Holy Apostles' mission statement. 

 

  • Shares with administration and staff a responsibility for excellence in education, curriculum development/improvement, school’s policies and procedures, academic achievement and student well-being. 

  • Organizes, plans, and prepares assigned classes for optimum educational outcomes by following the daily lesson plans for subjects taught in alignment with curriculum guidelines established by the State of Wisconsin, Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and Holy Apostles Catholic School.  

  • Creates a positive learning atmosphere for all students, including  recognizing and providing for individual learning styles. 

  • Evaluates students’ growth and achievement. 

 

The qualified candidate will be committed to the values of Catholic education, possess a valid  Wisconsin teaching or substitute teaching license and be driven to meet the needs of all learners.

Substitute Teacher (Temporary)

Holy Apostles School is seeking a short-term Substitute Teacher to teach in grades 3K through 8th.  The Substitute Teacher will work in the absence of our regular teachers/aides, assisting students in their daily tasks and helping ensure the understanding of the subject matter being covered.  This position possesses the skills needed to cover daily instruction and run the classroom environment in an orderly fashion. 

  • Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.

  • Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans

  • Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students

  • Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment

  • Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways and in the cafeteria

  •  Comply with all procedures, guidelines, and policies of the school at all times

  • Maintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality
